Your wedding photos aren’t just about about what things look like on the surface — they’re about something deeper, and perhaps a little harder to capture: the feeling.
If you choose me as your photographer, that’s what I will look for at every turn: the underlying feelings, the tender glances, the goofy moments, and the love.
If that’s what you hope to see in your wedding images, I can’t wait to meet you.

My life as a musician is what ultimately led me to photography. The majority of my twenties were spent traveling around in bands, playing in dive bars and small clubs. I often found myself sleeping on the floor of a stranger's apartment while on tour with my band. The lifestyle was such a blur that photography became a portal to our otherwise missed experiences, both proof that life did, in fact, happen — and also proof that we definitely were not rockstars. I’m honored to say I’ve contributed musically to over ten albums, including playing upright bass on a handful of songs with Tom Waits.

I shoot majority digital, but I also shoot film; I always have. I have a black and white darkroom at my home and I love to print photographs. I might use a little color film, but for the most part the film is B&W. I’ll go through a bunch of rolls no matter what, but it's kind of a vibe thing. Mailing out a handful of darkroom prints makes the film process feel complete and they are truly special heirlooms.

I'm not trying to be a destination photographer. I have my wife and two kiddos, so I like to be local. That said, I love to travel and try to get on a couple planes for work each year.

I love working as a team. Not only at my own weddings, but I still second shoot myself. I am honored to be Nirav Patel's second and have at the time of this update shot over 40 weddings with him; from the San Juan Islands, through Southern California, Idaho, Nebraska, Hawaii and Italy. A second shooter isn't just about getting more photographs; it's about a broader vision - that of two people working collaboratively to deliver something truly special. If you have a spare 30 minutes here is a link to my interview on the Second Society Podcast where I talk ad nauseam about collaboration and being part of a team.

I show up with too many cameras. This is partly because of the film/digital thing, but I just always come with more than less. Although, I would love to find myself at a wedding where I use only one camera with one lens...

This varies, because I don’t guarantee to deliver a sneak peak of 50 or 100 images. Instead I sometimes deliver a handful, sometimes 25. I hope my couples understand it actually adds work to make sneak peaks, and causes the current wedding I’m editing to take pause, ultimately slowing the flow. Can I tell you my two cents? My hope would be each couple takes a few days before looking at ANY pictures from their wedding, so as to enjoy the feeling from the wedding before the images start to influence the memory. We are the now! now! now! generation and weddings are about being present. Time really does slow down if you let it. But that's just my opinion:)
I will have the full collection to you in 10 weeks at the latest. Sometimes it's three weeks - just depends on the season. If I end up shooting black & white film with the intention of printing in my darkroom, that time is dependent on the season and my workload - this process is slow and deserves patience.

Your images will be delivered to you through a super user-friendly website and at that time you will be able to download all the images at high resolution. You will also be able to purchase prints, books, etc, or you can download and print them at home or from a print shop of your choosing.
The film images will be blended in with your whole collection.

I have insurance - just let me know if you, your planner or your venue would like a copy.
